Hotel du Sentier Review, Paris

The hotels signature scent of bergamot, iris, cedrat and white musk greets you in the 30 guest rooms, which are lit by large, decorative windows overlooking Place du Caire. Much of the furniture is bespoke, including the raffia headboards, the Scandi-style furniture crafted by Atelier La Serre, and the hand-made lamps courtesy of Charlottes friend

The hotel’s signature scent of bergamot, iris, cedrat and white musk greets you in the 30 guest rooms, which are lit by large, decorative windows overlooking Place du Caire. Much of the furniture is bespoke, including the raffia headboards, the Scandi-style furniture crafted by Atelier La Serre, and the hand-made lamps courtesy of Charlotte’s friend Odile Hypolyte at OSH Maison Artisanale. The use of oak wood and black porcelain for the light switches adds a polished finish.

The triple-glazed windows and the fact that rooms are positioned away from the lift helps to ensure a peaceful night. Even the lowest-category Classic rooms are well sized by Paris standards, while two suites with large terraces can be found on the sixth floor. Room 601 is particularly lovely, with a wrought iron spiral staircase.

Bathrooms are dressed with marble-topped sinks (again, from Samuel’s Le Bon Coin purchase), colourful tiled floors and large rain showers. Request a Superior room or above if you enjoy a soak in the tub. There are no bathrobes or slippers, but there are big bottles of organic soaps and lotions created especially for the hotel in the same scent as the rooms. Each room also has a flatscreen TV, complimentary water and mini fridge.
