UPDATE: 2023/03/30 11:05 EST BY JOSH COULSON
Roxanne Perez and Indi Hartwell were added to the ladder match for the Women's Title, and Axiom was added to the match for the North American Title on NXT this week.
Roadblock is in the rearview mirror which means NXT is now full speed ahead to Stand & Deliver. Its annual premium live event designed to whet the appetite of wrestling fans in preparation for WrestleMania. More so than ever last year, and again this year, as the event was moved to Saturday afternoon. A change deemed necessary by WWE as its WrestleMania week has become so packed, it quite literally won't fit anywhere else that makes sense.
That's right, WWE is once again expecting fans to fill their WrestleMania weekend Saturday with a lot of wrestling. Stand & Deliver will go down before WrestleMania has even begun. Kicking off at 1 pm EST on April 1, mere hours before night one of WrestleMania begins. US fans will be able to watch the NXT event through Peacock, and the rest of the world can watch on the WWE Network or whatever service carries it where you are. Every match announced for Stand & Deliver so far can be found below.
Bron Breakker vs. Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship
Whether it was WWE planting fans to sway others or not, NXT fans appear to be growing tired of Bron Breakker as the brand's champion. Stand & Deliver will mark almost one full year since Breakker became champion, and Carmelo Hayes might well be his biggest challenge yet.
Such a big challenge that it seems very likely Breakker's reign will come to an end at Stand & Deliver. Not only do fans want to see Hayes with the title, but a likely return to post-WrestleMania call-ups probably means we'll see Breakker on the main roster a few days later.
Grayson Waller vs. Johnny Gargano
Grayson Waller has been angling for a match against Shawn Michaels for weeks, but the Hall of Famer has remained true to his word and will not return to the ring. Instead, he has called in Johnny Gargano to wrestle on his behalf. Someone who has been waiting a long time to get revenge on Waller.
This match is a tricky one to call as both Superstars need the win. I'm going with Gargano to pick up the victory, finally getting revenge for the Waller attack over a year ago. However, Waller will then be among the call-ups after WrestleMania, immediately getting one up on Gargano again upon arrival.
Ladder Match For The NXT Women's Championship
WWE is recreating a famous Shawn Michaels angle with Roxanne Perez. The NXT Women's Champion collapsed during an episode of NXT and a week later, HBK suggested the title may need a new holder. That's how this ladder match came about.
The graphic implies there will be four Superstars in this match. My guess is that once all four competitors have been determined, Perez will be cleared and added to the match. Not only that but unless Perez is getting a call-up after WrestleMania, she will retain her title in this match. If not, Tiffany Stratton for the win.
Fatal 5-Way Match for the NXT North American Championship
Wes Lee has inadvertently been causing chaos in NXT by declaring open challenges for his North American Title. HBK decided enough was enough when that led to a brawl in the entranceway as various stars attempted to make it to the ring first and become Lee's next challenger.
In an attempt to stop that, Michaels and Lee agreed the best way forward was to have more than one challenger for the title. Lee will defend the North American Champion against four other people at Stand & Deliver, and whether he loses that title will depend on who those challengers are. As it stands, Ilja Dragunov is my personal favorite.
Fallon Henley and Kiana James vs. Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre for the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships
Fallon Henley and Kiana James, an unlikely tag team, will defend the NXT Women's Tag Titles against an even more unlikely pair in Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn at Stand & Deliver. Challengers who have been tearing up the division since they realized they work better together than against each other.
No offense to the current champions, but the Tag Titles are in serious need of someone bigger and more interesting holding them. I firmly believe WWE has realized that too and the entire reason Dawn and Fyre are together is so they can win on April 1.
Gallus vs. The Creed Brothers vs. The Family for the NXT Tag Team Championships
Putting the Tag Titles on Gallus was a great way to shine a brighter spotlight on them, something that hasn't been done for a while. They're still not on the pedestal they once were, though. Hopefully this match will be a good one and propel the titles back to where they used to be, or close to it.
Taking the titles from Gallus so soon after they won them feels like the wrong move here. This match is going to be a chaotic brawl that needs to be framed as a scenario in which the champs thrive. Unless they're going to trade the titles back and forth with the Creeds.
Chase U and Tyler Bate vs. The Schism
The weird rivalry between Chase U and The Schism has been oddly intriguing, unfolding over a number of weeks in NXT. All seven of them, plus Tyler Bate, clashing at Stand & Deliver isn't a match I saw coming, but I'm looking forward to seeing how exactly it's going to work.
One of the biggest parts of this match will be the in-ring debut of Ava Raine, months after she first appeared on TV. She's probably sick of being referred to as "The Rock's daughter" but that's a leading reason why so many will be interested in this match. It's also one of the many reasons why The Schism will win this one.
